The term "pepper" unites 3 unrelated groups of plants which belong to genus Capsicum (Bell pepper, Chili pepper and some other), genus Piper (Black pepper), and genus Pimenta (Allspice and other). The color of bell pepper (or sweet pepper) can be green, red, yellow, orange, almost white, or purple, depending on when they are harvested and the specific sort. Green pepper is less sweet and more bitter than orange, red, or yellow peppers. Compared to green peppers, red peppers have more vitamins and nutrients.
